Prohibiting engine power
for TRUs is workshop topic

Mar 3, 2009 8:16 AM

The California Environmental Protection Agency (CalEPA) is holding a public workshop to discuss regulatory concepts for prohibiting use of internal combustion engines to power transport refrigeration units (TRUs) on trucks, trailers, shipping containers, and railcars for extended cold storage.

This workshop is set for Monday, March 23, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at CalEPA headquarters, 1001 I Street in Sacramento, and will be webcast.

In December, the California Air Resources Board approved this measure as a component of the Goods Movement Efficiency Measures in the Climate Change Scoping Plan pursuant to the California Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006.

The public meeting notice is posted on ARB’s TRU website at www.arb.ca.gov/diesel/tru.htm.

Staff presentations will be posted on the website a few days before the workshop.
