Apr 20, 2009 10:19 AM

Jim Palmer Trucking has joined the SmartWay Transport Partnership, a collaboration between the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and freight industry designed to increase energy efficiency while reducing greenhouse gases and air pollution.

The Missoula MT-based carrier has an ongoing commitment to clean air for future generations. It will support the SmartWay goal to reduce 33 to 66 million metric tons of carbon dioxide and up to 200,000 tons of nitrogen oxide per year by 2012 by improving the environmental performance of its freight operations.

Launched in February 2004, SmartWay aims to achieve fuel savings of up to 150 million barrels of fuel per year. It brings together freight shippers, trucking companies, railroads, logistics companies, and trade/professional associations to pursue mutually beneficial efficiencies that result in emissions reductions and other environmental improvements, as well as cost savings. SmartWay currently has about 1,400 partners.

Jim Palmer Trucking is a midsize nationwide refrigerated full-truckload carrier specializing in safe and on-time delivery. For more information, visit www.jimpalmertrucking.com. To learn more about SmartWay, visit www.epa.gov/smartway.
