Save Mart retrofitting TRUs
with Rypos filtration systems
Mar 18, 2009 10:08 AM
Save Mart Supermarkets and its wholly owned subsidiary, SMART Refrigerated Transport, plan to purchase Rypos LETRU (Low-Emission Transport Refrigeration Unit) exhaust filtration systems to bring transportation refrigeration units (TRU) into compliance with the diesel TRU engine emissions levels required by the California Air Resources Board (CARB).
First in line for the retrofit is Save Martís Thermo King TRUs, which will use the Proventia FTF, a passive flow-through filter that uses engine exhaust temperature to regenerate the filter. The device is CARB-verified to enable Thermo King TRUs to meet the boardís low-emission (LE) standards.
The supermarket chain plans to follow this with the purchase of Rypos LETRU self-cleaning diesel exhaust filters. This product was recently verified by CARB for use to comply with LETRU in-use performance standards.
Save Mart operates nearly 250 stores throughout northern California and northern Nevada under the Save Mart, S-Mart Foods, Lucky, and FoodMaxx banners.
