Members of the International Foodservice Distributors Association (IFDA) elected four new directors to the IFDA board of directors and re-elected eight directors. Elected to three-year terms are Bill Mathis, president, Glazier Foods Company (Houston TX) and Andrew Mercier, president and chief executive officer, Merchants Foodservice (Hattiesburg MS). Elected to fulfill existing terms are Mac Pearce, president and CEO-Broadline, Performance Food Group (Richmond VA) and Larry Perkins, president, Perkins (Taunton MA). Re-elected to three-year terms as directors are Leonard Bench, president and CEO, Jake's Finer Foods (Houston TX); Jeff Braverman, president, Hawkeye Foodservice Distribution Inc. (Iowa City IA); Blair Labatt Jr., CEO, Labatt Food Service (San Antonio TX); Malcolm Sullivan Jr., CEO, Pate Dawson Company (Goldsboro NC); James Crawford, chairman and CEO, Clover Hill Foods (Bridgeville PA); Barbara Callahan, president, Mattingly Foods Inc. (Zanesville OH); and J. Michael Roach, president, Ben E. Keith Foods (Fort Worth TX). Ed Furbee, president of FoodPRO of Frederick MD, has retired from the board after serving from 2003 to January 2009.
J. Michael Roach of Ben E. Keith Foods, Fort Worth TX, was presented the International Foodservice Distributors Association (IFDA) Cornerstone Award for his leadership and significant contributions to the industry through his work with IFDA.
Members of the National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors (NAW) recently elected these officers for 2009: chairman — Chip Hornsby, group chief executive, Wolseley PLC, Theale, England; chairman-elect — Robert N. Taylor, president and chief executive officer, Do It Best Corp., Fort Wayne IN; first vice chairman — Dennis G. Hatchell, president and chief operating officer, Alex Lee Inc., Winston Salem NC; second vice chairman — Mark Kramer, president and CEO, Laird Plastics Inc., Boca Raton FL; secretary — Robert Aiken, president and CEO, U.S. Foodservice Inc., Rosemont IL; and president and CEO — Dirk Van Dongen. Completing the 2009 board of directors are chairman of the NAW Association Executives Council (AEC) — M. Robert Weidner III, president and CEO of the Metals Service Center Institute; chairman-elect of the AEC, Joseph Thompson Jr., CEO of Thompson Management Associates; and past chairman of the AEC — Robert Renkes, executive vice president of the Petroleum Equipment Institute.
