CH Robinson Worldwide Inc, a produce sourcing and non-asset based third party logistics company, acquired two jointly owned, produce industry firms: Rosemont Farms Corporation Inc and Quality Logistics LLC. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Rosemont offers produce and logistics systems to retail and foodservice customers. It will augment CH Robinsonís existing regional grower programs and its focus on providing sustainable systems that are close to the market, grower-based, and supply chain-efficient. Quality Logistics primarily focuses on refrigerated and less-than-truckload transportation. These companies are headquartered in Boca Raton FL and combined have approximately 100 employees. Both companies were established in 1999 by Andrew Schwartz, Frank Segui, and Don Brodie. Schwartz and Segui will continue with the company in similar management roles.
In 2005, CH Robinson acquired FoodSource Inc, a California-based produce sourcing and marketing organization. FoodSourceís regional programs and grower relationships have played an integral role in expanding CH Robinsonís organic regional programs. The Rosemont acquisition, combined with FoodSource, will continue to support CH Robinsonís supply-based sourcing strategies.
CH Robinson got its start in the produce industry more than 100 years ago, providing fresh fruits and vegetables to the settlers of the Dakotas and Minnesota. Today, the company serves 32,000-plus customers through a network of more than 233 offices and about 7,300 employees in North America, Europe, Asia, South America, Australia, and the Middle East.
