Geoff Turner, president and chief executive officer of Choptank Transport, discusses US freight and logistics with CITEF members.
Choptank Transport was one of several stops on the US agenda for 20 members of the China International Talent Exchange Foundation (CITEF) recently.
“It was an honor to host the delegation from CITEF,” said Geoff Turner, president and chief executive officer of Choptank Transport. “It is important for us to collaborate with our counterparts around the world, especially our country’s largest trading partner.”
The delegation, composed of third-party logistics companies (3PLs, similar to Choptank Transport), educators, and association staff, were here to learn how US businesses use technology to be more competitive and improve efficiencies, as well as to understand the difference between US government regulations and shippers requirements. The visitors were also interested in learning how the role of education and certifications affect companies including Choptank Transport.
Steve Covey, vice-president of business development at Choptank Transport, said, “In today’s dynamic global economy, it is of extreme importance to exchange ideas in order to remain successful in an ever-evolving 3PL marketplace.”
A nationwide, full-service freight management company, Choptank Transport specializes in refrigerated, truckload, and van transportation as well as less-than-truckload, intermodal, and flatbed services. The company’s headquarters are in Preston MD with additional offices in Atlanta GA, Nashville TN, and Denver CO.
