Greatwide broadens
Supervalu agreement

Greatwide Logistics Services, a national provider of non-asset-based transportation and third-party logistics services, has recently expanded and renewed its product transportation agreement with Supervalu in Pennsylvania.

Supervalu has been a customer of Greatwide since 2001, operating from two of the company’s Pennsylvania distribution centers. The expanded, multi-year contract will consolidate the volume from those two facilities into one mega-center. This new operation will support more than 120 trucks in the region.

“As our customers change and grow, our services must evolve to meet their needs, said Raymond Greer, chief executive officer of Greatwide Logistics Services. As Supervalu’s business partner, Greatwide was tasked with optimizing dedicated contract carriage operations to fit their continually developing logistics and transportation requirements.

“Because of our unique, asset-light operating model, we were able to do so in a minimal amount of time and in a way that would have been impossible if we were a traditional asset-based dedicated contract carriage provider,” he said.

Besides the Supervalu contract, Greatwide has previously secured dedicated contract carriage agreements with other companies in grocery retail, general retail, foodservice distribution, wholesale food, and food and beverage manufacturing.
