Maersk Line begins revamping operations

Feb 1, 2008 12:00 PM

Denmark-based AP Moller-Maersk has started reorganizing its container operations with key management changes and initial organization changes in its Europe-Asia liner network.

According to Eivind Kolding, chief executive of Maersk Line, the firm's top management team would be decreased from nine to seven people, though he gave no indication of which officials would be departing.

Kolding also indicated that Maersk Logistics would become a stand-alone entity, independent of the group's shipping operation. Other container-related activities — such as trucking, railroad, warehousing, and container manufacture and repair — would be combined into a new division.
