Stampede Meat voluntarily recalls frozen beef
Jun 30, 2003 12:00 PM, from staff and wire reportsStampede Meat Inc has begun a voluntary recall for about 739,000 pounds of frozen beef produced the week of March 17–22, 2003, that may be contaminated with E coli 0157:H7. The product was distributed to restaurants, institutions, and retail stores and to companies conducting door-to-door sales throughout the United States. A small amount of product was distributed to institutions in Canada.
The company has supplied a detailed list of all products involved in the recall to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food Safety and Inspection Service. A complete list can be found at www.fsis.usda.gov.
Some products can be identified by lot codes that begin with one of these numbers: 07603, 07703, 07803, 07903, 08003, and 08103. Other products can be identified by date codes that will be dated March 17–22, 2003. Some products can be identified by the date, which will contain the phrase “Best If Used By:” and will be dated Sept 13–18, 2003.
The only products subject to recall are those that bear one of the codes listed above and have Stampede Meat Inc establishment #19113 inside the USDA Inspection Mark.
