Tyson does encore of its sales performance

Tyson Foods Inc reported $5.8 billion in sales for the second quarter of fiscal 2003, the same figure as the comparable period in 2002. Operating income was $183 million compared with $179 million in the same quarter last year. Earnings for the second quarter of fiscal 2003 were $72 million versus $65 million for the same period in 2002.Sales for the first six months of fiscal 2003 totaled $11.6 billion for the Springdale AR-based company, compared with $11.7 billion a year ago. Operating income was $328 million versus $452 million in the same period of 2002. Earnings for the first six months of fiscal 2003 were $111 million compared with $192 million for the same period a year earlier.
