Pilgrim's Pride produces a couple of records

Pilgrim's Pride Corp reported record net income of $85.4 million for the third fiscal quarter ended July 2, 2005, an increase of $75.6 million over net income of $9.8 million in the third quarter ended July 3, 2004. The Pittsburg TX-based poultry producer also reported net sales of $1.440 billion for the third quarter ended July 2, 2005, a slight decrease compared with net sales of $1.448 billion for the same period a year ago.
For the nine months ended July 2, 2005, Pilgrim's Pride saw record net income of $190.3 million, a gain of $137.2 million versus net income of $53.1 million for the nine months ended July 3, 2004. The company also reported net sales of $4.184 billion for the first nine months of fiscal 2005, an increase of $307 million compared with net sales of $3.877 billion for the same period a year earlier.
