Railex switches to summer
schedule for shipping
May 10, 2011 9:39 AM
As of April 24th, the company is shipping one weekly train each Wednesday out of the Pacific Northwest region (Wallula WA) to Albany NY, to arrive in Albany by the next Tuesday morning. Railex will resume the second weekly train from the Pacific Northwest region in autumn 2011 once new crops have been harvested.
The Railex platform features three refrigerated, mega-transload distribution centers: one in Wallula, one in Delano CA, and one in Rotterdam NY, providing more than 22,225,000 cubic feet of temperature-controlled storage. These three coast-to-coast distribution centers run weekly five-day-service 55-car refrigerated unit trains, with the capacity to transport the equivalent of 1,120 trucks of refrigerated merchandise each and every week—both ways. The train consists of all new 64-ft series cars with fresh air exchange, GPS tracking, and temperature control.
