TransCore produce report
shows rate increases

Aug 9, 2011 9:37 AM

TransCore has released its second in a series of free monthly DAT Produce Reports, combining spot market freight rates from the company’s Truckload Rate Index with seasonal and regional data from the US Department of Agriculture (USDA).

This month’s report includes an analysis of refrigerated (reefer) van movements from key produce-growing markets in Goldsboro NC, Valdosta GA, Jackson MS, Amarosa CO, and Fresno CA. With the exception of Valdosta and Fresno, rates in these regions rose an average of 2.5% from June 22 to July 26.

The report covers the largest lane rate increases and decreases from the five produce markets to the top 10 US destinations, the ratio of refrigerated freight loads to available trucks by state, and the USDA’s advisory on truck availability in each market.

Spot market rates are rates paid to the carrier by freight brokers and other freight intermediaries.

TransCore’s DAT Produce Reports are derived from the company’s Truckload Rate Index, based on $4 billion in actual invoices updated daily for vans, reefers, and flatbeds across the United States and Canada.
