New Century Transportation has donated a tractor to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund to transport the traveling replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial around the country.
Known as The Wall That Heals, the memorial - a half-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial - tours in the spring, summer, and fall. It has visited more than 300 communities in the United States since its creation in 1996.
“The Wall That Heals gives people who can’t visit Washington, DC, the opportunity to visit The Wall and pay tribute to loved ones named there,” said Jan C Scruggs, Memorial Fund founder and president. “New Century’s donation of a semi cab allows us to continue the important work of healing and remembrance that is the core of the Memorial Fund’s mission.”
The Wall That Heals also includes a traveling museum that is contained in the trailer that houses the replica.
This year, that trailer was renovated by Featherlite Trailers of Cresco, Iowa, and contains new exhibits.
“We are pleased to partner with the Memorial Fund to bring such a stirring tribute to as many Americans as possible,” New Century Chairman and CEO Harry Muhlschlegel said.
“New Century employs many American patriots who served our country valiantly in its armed forces, and we have a culture of respect for those ideals. It is important that we never forget the sacrifices made by so many in the service of our country.”
