AC traction made standard on forklift trucks

Aug 1, 2003 12:00 PM

The Raymond Corp has made AC-powered traction standard on its line of 36-volt Reach-Fork and Deep-Reach forklift trucks. AC technology benefits:

  • Maintenance managers — AC extends battery life, so workers spend less time at the battery charger and fewer batteries are needed. AC uses no motor brushes, springs, commutators, motor bearings or independent regen circuits.

  • Operators — AC traction provides increased acceleration and improved precision to store and retrieve pallet loads. Motors produce less heat, so operators enjoy a cooler work compartment.

  • Distribution center managers — AC-powered lift trucks are proven to be 9% to 11% more productive than lift trucks with DC-powered traction because they have faster acceleration and spend less time ramping up speed.
