Western Star will offer Hendrickson's Airtek (Front Airliner) integrated front axle and air suspension on its 4900 FA, EX and LowMax models, in addition to the 4900 SA.

Airtek helps protect drivers from bumps and potholes, providing a smooth ride while reducing noise, vibration, and harshness. The axle-section and leaf-spring geometry produce improvements of up to 30% in ride and 64% in roll stability, in addition to 90 pounds of weight savings compared with traditional steel spring suspensions and I-beam axles.

Airtek's rubber suspension bushings eliminate lubrication requirements, while the two-piece knuckle steering design simplifies service. The axle clamp group eliminates U-bolts and provides four-sided clamping pressure for a secure axle connection.
