E J Brooks to supply CSI with bolt seals

Jul 1, 2006 12:00 PM

E J Brooks Co has been named as the exclusive, sole-source supplier of the high-security mechanical bolt seal for United States Customs and Border Protection's (CBP) worldwide Container Security Initiative (CSI). These seals will be used in resealing US-bound containers that have been inspected by US Customs agents stationed at 40 foreign ports. The Brooks/CSI bolt seal conforms to ISO/PAS-17712 as well as to the specifications established for CSI.

CSI is an initiative developed by CBP in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks of September 11. The primary purpose of CSI is to protect the global trading system and the trade lanes between the 40 designated CSI ports and the United States. Under the program, a team of CBP officers is deployed to work with host nation counterparts to target all containers that pose a potential threat.

This product is a result of a collaboration effort between E.J.Brooks research and development and the CBP Technology Division over a two-year period.
