Dana Spicer air disc brakes on Kenworths

Aug 1, 2004 12:00 PM

Kenworth is making Dana Spicer ESD225 air disc brakes available on selected Kenworth models immediately.

“Air disc brakes provide reduced brake wear as compared to standard brakes. The longer brake life of the Dana Spicer air disc brake may eliminate one steer axle brake reline for many linehaul customers,” said Jim Bechtold, Kenworth's chief engineer. “In addition, drivers have found disc brakes on steer axles improve the feel and control of the vehicle during braking.”

The Dana Spicer air disc brake features a straightforward design that reduces maintenance costs, while the brake's caliper design provides strong caliper support, minimal slide pin wear, and reduced lining and rotor wear. In addition, quick-change brake linings and a unitized actuator minimize maintenance labor and expense. Plus, fade resistance is improved under extreme high brake temperatures.
