Haldex PLC Select uses fewer components

Aug 1, 2004 12:00 PM

The new PLC Select Full Function ABS from Haldex has a sealed, protected design and uses fewer components. Power Line Carrier multiplexing technology and ASIC computer chips are built in, and the PLC Select offers e-odometer capability and expanded memory for notebook function.

Chassis harness and sensors connect directly into the PLC's electronic control unit (ECU), eliminating the need for a unique power cable and sensor extensions. The valve solenoid cable is integral to the ECU, eliminating the need for a unique valve cable. The PLC Select has a robust, single fastener mounting bracket design, and the ABS valve includes a pre-installed mounting nipple with a swivel-nut design for ease of installation and removal.

On-board diagnostics (OBD) are built into the PLC Select to identify system failures and streamline troubleshooting. The standard OBD system uses “blink codes” via a trailer-mounted ABS lamp. Haldex offers an optional PLC Info Center tool, which permits remote, hand-held communications with the ECU. An optional Windows-based diagnostics system lets the user program data into the PLC ABS system, download vehicle data, and troubleshoot the system using a laptop PC.
