Onboard scaling system a hit at Prime Inc

Apr 1, 2003 12:00 PM

Weigh-Right Inc says 80% of Prime Inc's refrigerated, flatbed, and tanker trailers have been equipped with the new Easy Air II onboard scaling system.

Springfield MO-based Prime expects that it will recoup its investments based on cost avoidance and improved asset utilization. Easy Air II was chosen for three reasons: low cost, high accuracy, and ease of operation. In a survey, Prime drivers reported the system has saved them time and reduced out-of-route miles.

A battery-powered hand-held computer, Easy Air II temporarily attaches to meter connects, specially designed quick-couplers with memory. Easy Air II reads the memory, attaches to the quick-coupler to read suspension pressure, and converts this suspension pressure to accurate and reliable weights.
