Sterling adds Dana's tire inflation system

Jul 1, 2003 12:00 PM

Sterling Truck Corp is providing Dana Spicer's Central Tire Inflation (CTI) system for Sterling L-Line vehicles.

The factory-installed technology allows truck operators to change tire pressure while a vehicle is in motion. The option also allows Sterling vehicles to meet off-road applications and navigate soft terrain.

CTI operates by using air from the vehicle's on-board compressor. Steer- and drive-tire pressures are microprocessor-controlled to maximize their tractional effort.

This technology is adaptable to a vehicle's load condition and offers highway, off-highway, and emergency pressure mode, Dana said.
