Cummins has new ISL rating

Jan 1, 2003 12:00 PM

Cummins Inc has introduced a new 350-horsepower rating for its ISL engine, aimed at the 4 × 2 shorthaul truck market. The new rating, with 1,050 ft-lb of torque, has been developed in conjunction with Allison Transmission to optimize the engine/drivetrain package and deliver weight savings.

The combination of the ISL 350 and the Allison MD3066 automatic transmission delivers weight savings up to 800 pounds.

An electronic in-line six-cylinder diesel engine, the ISL can supply power and fuel economy, as well as electronics that simplify servicing the engine.
