Cummins ReCon ISXs roll off assembly line

Jan 1, 2007 12:00 PM

Cummins Inc is remanufacturing ISX engines on a new production line at the San Luis Potosi, Mexico, plant.

Every ReCon ISX is completely disassembled, thoroughly inspected, remanufactured, and tested on the production line to verify that it meets factory specifications. Materials and components are upgraded using only genuine Cummins new or ReCon parts, which include a one-piece forged-steel piston, a new one-piece head gasket for better coolant control, a flat-top induction-hardened cylinder liner for better cylinder sealing, and an improved piston pin and lubrication for longer life-to-overhaul.

Current production is limited to engines produced between 1998 and October 2002. ISX engines with the cooled-EGR subsystem will become available in the first quarter of 2007.
