Mack, Volvo engines get EPA's thumbs-up

Jan 1, 2007 12:00 PM

The United States Environmental Protection Agency has certified Mack Trucks Inc's MP engine series to the 2007 emissions standards that go into effect Jan 1, 2007.

Mack is using a combination of exhaust gas recirculation technology and a diesel particulate filter to satisfy the new requirements, which reduce allowable levels of nitrogen oxides by a minimum of 50% and particulates by a minimum of 90% from today's levels.

The EPA also has certified that Volvo Trucks North America's new D11, D13, and D16 engines for 2007 will meet new lower emissions requirements taking effect January 1.
