Castrol oils meet Cat spec

Oct 1, 2003 12:00 PM

Castrol announced that three of its diesel engine oils — Enduron S, Tection Extra, and Tection S — have met the requirements of the Caterpillar ECF-1 specification, a new standard developed to ensure optimum life and performance of Caterpillar engines. Due to many diesel engine oils being reformulated with higher sulfated ash content to handle new EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) engines, Caterpillar created the ECF-1 specification, which took effect June 1, 2003.

Introduced in February 2002, Enduron S and Tection Extra exceed current specifications, including API CI-4, CH-4, CG-4, CF-4, SL, Cummins CES 20078 and 20076, and Mack EO-N Premium Plus.
