Canadian Freight Index up
for fifth month in a row

Jul 6, 2010 2:16 PM

TransCore’s Canadian Freight Index has climbed for the fifth straight month, showing significant improvement year over year with a 73% increase in spot market freight availability. The May 2010 index rose by 22 points over the previous month. Combined cross-border postings have increased 82% year over year. Truck postings have decreased by 14% for the same period, indicating a reduction in capacity to meet demand.

Intermediaries and carriers across Canada list more than 12 million loads and trucks per year on Loadlink, a logistics freight matching database and network. As a result of this high volume, TransCore’s Canadian Freight Index is representative of the ups and downs in spot market freight movement as well as providing a historical account of the domestic and cross-border spot market freight movement.

The Loadlink network gives Canadian-based companies:

•A large online database of available loads and trucks

•Unlimited access

•Guaranteed payment
