Hyundai Translead boosts plant capacity

Jul 1, 2005 12:00 PM

After the recently completed $4.5 million investment to bolster subassembly cycle times and a $2.3 million warehouse expansion, Hyundai Translead plans to invest another $15 million in assembly line capacity at its Tijuana plant.

Beginning with production in May 2005, the first round of investment should bolster trailer capacity by about 25% per month. The newest approved expansion of line capacity will add a new production line — the company's fifth — to produce both trailers and domestic containers in a new building to be constructed at the current plant location. This latest investment is expected to increase production capacity by another 30% beginning in second quarter 2006.
