Toyo commercial tires earn
EPA SmartWay verification

Toyo Tires has received US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) SmartWay verification for a set of its commercial tire products, the M137 steer tire, M127 free-rolling tire for trailer axles, and the M657, a new drive tire that will soon be available in the United States. The SmartWay verified technologies program identifies products and services that reduce transportation-related emissions, including low-rolling resistance tires.
Suitable for long-haul highway applications, the M137 and M657 tires are developed using Toyo Tires’ e-balance technology, which focuses on a stiffer belt package, stiffer bead construction, and optimization through simulation technology. Benefits include improvements in tire life, endurance, irregular wear resistance, and fuel consumption.
Based on data provided by tire manufacturers and EPA testing and research, the EPA has determined that certain tire models can provide a reduction in nitrogen oxides (NOx) emissions. Another benefit is an estimated fuel savings of 3% or greater, relative to the “best selling” new tires for line haul trucks, when used on all five axles on long-haul Class 8 trucks. As a result, verified tires are required as a component on both SmartWay-certified tractors and trailers.
