The Wall of Innovation at Thermo King honors the 372 patents earned by the company.

Officials at Thermo King, a manufacturer of transport temperature control systems for mobile applications and a brand of Ingersoll Rand, recently honored customer-driven innovations that have changed the industry.

At its headquarters in Bloomington MN, Thermo King unveiled a Wall of Innovation recognizing 372 patents held by the firm, including 17 “milestone” patents.

Thermo King also demonstrated its commitment to inspiring innovation in the next generation of engineers by introducing the Frederick Jones Innovation Scholarship. This scholarship will be presented to outstanding engineering students at the University of Minnesota. Frederick McKinley Jones is the inventor of the first reliable system for refrigerating trucks that became the springboard for launching Thermo King.

The company presented a check for $30,000 to University of Minnesota representatives with a commitment to annual installments of $10,000 for the next three years. The first scholarship will be presented during National Engineers Week, scheduled for February 19–25, 2012.
