Kemps, the Minnesota-based dairy company, announced that its Nickels for Schools program (previously known as Give ’em Five) has generated more than $800,000 for about 3,200 K-12 schools in the Midwest.
Rachel Kyllo, vice-president of marketing for Kemps. said, “We will continue to offer schools five cents for every specially marked milk cap and proof of purchase redeemed during the 2004-05 school year.” Consumers also can find redeemable Nickels for Schools proofs of purchase on Kemps cottage cheese and sour cream packages.
Launched in April 2002, Nickels for Schools was the first school fund-raising program in the region to be linked to the purchase of milk. To date, students have redeemed more than 16 million milk caps and proof of purchase symbols. More than 3,200 public and private K-12 schools in nine states across the Midwest participate in the Kemps program.
