Saying ‘cheese’ at naval vessel homeporting

Aug 9, 2004 12:32 PM, from staff and wire reports

Sargento’s redesigned semitractor-trailer delivered a 550-lb replica of the USS Ronald Reagan to the Coronado CA homeporting.

Plymouth WI-based Sargento Foods Inc proved its American pride and passion for cheese by showcasing its redesigned semitractor-trailer en route to the July 23, 2004, homeporting of the USS Ronald Reagan at North Island Naval Station in Coronado CA.

Outfitted with yellow Swiss cheese siding, the semitractor-trailer appears as cheese as it cruises down the road. This unit delivered a 550-lb Sargento Cheddar cheese-carved replica of the USS Ronald Reagan to the homeporting, where Sargento welcomed the ship’s nearly 8,000 crew, family, and friends.

The truck’s convertible vinyl siding will also be appropriated for use in other marketing programs. It is constructed like a picture frame so the panels are interchangeable. This truck will also be stationed at all Green Bay Packer home football games as part of the firm’s “Official Cheese of Lambeau Field” promotion.
