East Coast presence
via facility acquisition

Jul 19, 2012 10:03 AM

CTI Foods Holding Company LLC, a provider of food products to national chain restaurants, announced that it was the successful bidder for the former AFA Foods Inc ground beef processing facility in King of Prussia PA. The transaction received court approval and is expected to close in July 2012.

Bobby Horowitz, chief executive officer of CTI Foods, said, “As we continue to grow our company on a national basis, it was important to establish a manufacturing presence on the East Coast. AFA’s King of Prussia is an outstanding facility that will allow us to strengthen our already close relationships with customers and suppliers to provide a variety of high-quality food products.”

A privately held company owned by a group of foodservice industry veterans, CTI Foods was established in July 2003 through the acquisition and merger of SSI Food Services Inc and S&S Foods LLC. Since then, the Wilder ID-based company has expanded its operations into Texas by opening two more processing facilities. Production operations have been in place since 1986 in Idaho, 1998 in California, and 2004 in Texas. CTI Foods has 1,000 employees at its Idaho, California, and Texas locations.
