Ryder System Inc (NYSE: R) has received the 2011 Domino’s Pizza Supplier of the Year Award. The award was presented at Domino’s recent annual supplier meeting held at the Mirage in Las Vegas NV.
Domino’s ESP program (Excellence through Supplier Partnerships) is a supply chain management program that develops relationships through a “360-Degree” performance evaluation process that promotes communication and continuous improvement between Domino’s and its suppliers. Domino’s has more than 100 suppliers systemwide, and this year, nine suppliers were recognized in the categories of Partner, Teamwork, and Innovation. Ryder received top honors as Domino’s 2011 Supplier of the Year.
“We pride ourselves on our commitment to customer service, operational execution, safety, and expertise with emerging technology in equipment,” said Dennis Cooke, Ryder president of global fleet management solutions. “We are honored to be named Supplier of the Year by Domino’s and appreciate our long-standing partnership, which continues to flourish after more than three decades.”
This is the 21st year Domino’s has been recognizing its partners with the Supply Partner Award. This award is given annually to a select group of partners that consistently deliver outstanding results in support of Domino’s operations. Selection of winners is based on each partner’s performance in areas such as vehicle uptime, safety, problem-solving capabilities, damage prevention, and equipment availability.
Ryder started doing business with Domino’s in 1978 with a lease contract for one refrigerated straight truck. Since then, the relationship has grown and in 2007, Ryder was awarded all of Domino’s leased transportation business. This includes a fleet of 213 tractors, 260 refrigerated trailers, and one refrigerated straight truck that services 18 Domino’s supply chain centers in the United States and two locations in Canada.
Founded in 1960, Domino’s (NYSE: DPZ) as of the first quarter of 2012 operates a network of 9,810 franchised and company-owned stores in the United States and more than 70 international markets.
