Oct 29, 2008 9:58 AM

Frontera Produce Ltd., a South Texas-based grower, packer, and distributor of fresh produce, has established a new company, Frontera Fresh Logistics LLC.

Designed to enhance the Frontera customer base and allow it to develop existing carrier relationships, Frontera Fresh Logistics will provide perishable full-truckload and LTL service throughout the United States, as well as temperature-controlled storage and forward distribution in strategically located areas.

Will Steele, president and chief executive officer of Frontera Produce, said, "The new company gives us the opportunity to build long-term relationships with customers by providing competitive rates and ontime delivery service to a broad range of markets in the Southwest and West. If we can help our customers save money while expanding our list of service offerings, it becomes a win-win scenario for everyone involved."

Mike Laws has joined the new firm as director of logistics and will supervise trucking, ocean, and contract warehousing operations. He previously served with Universal Freight Forwarders, Hellmann Perishable Logistics, Gargiulo, and Intermodal Express Inc.
