Malcolm “Mac” Sullivan Jr, chief executive officer of Goldsboro NC-based Pate Dawson Company, was noted as a man of integrity, of constant curiosity, and as an exceptional industry leader when he was presented the International Foodservice Distributors Association (IFDA) Cornerstone Award in recognition of his contributions to foodservice.
Sullivan’s work with IFDA includes serving as chairman of the board from 2010 to 2012 and as a member of the IFDA Executive Committee since 2006. He has been an active member of the board since 2003.
“During that time, Mac has helped to guide IFDA and a number of industry efforts through his vision, leadership, and engagement,” said Mark Allen, IFDA president and CEO, who presented the award at the IFDA Distribution Solutions Conference recently.
Sullivan was recognized for ensuring that IFDA leads on issues important to the success of foodservice distributors. That includes being an early and strong advocate of the industry’s GS1 Standards Initiative, said Allen.
“It also includes his belief that there are ways that distributors and manufacturers can improve how they work with one another to better serve the customer,” said Allen. That belief led to an IFDA collaboration study, followed by a collaboration pilot between several distributors and manufacturers that yielded increased sales and supply chain efficiencies for the companies that took part, said Allen.
