for mess hall foodservice

Feb 28, 2011 10:31 AM

Sodexo has been chosen as the winning bidder for one contract of up to eight years to provide food services at 31 US Marine Corps garrison mess halls within the continental United States. The contract represents up to $926 million in revenues over the life of the contract.

“We are very pleased that the Marine Corps reaffirmed their confidence in us” said Michel Landel, Sodexo’s chief executive officer. “The teams here at Sodexo will be proud to be up to the challenge to provide the very best service, and to contribute to improve the US Marines’ quality of life.”

Sodexo will serve 31 garrison mess hall locations in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and Washington DC. More than 37% of Sodexo’s contract with the US Marine Corps will be serviced through teaming agreements with companies selected for their commitment to social progress and diversity, which can be local companies or organizations, specialized into minorities, disadvantaged, or individuals with disabilities. To provide quality dining for Marine Corps customers, Sodexo will combine industry best practices and programs with fresh, local products at each base location.

Founded by Pierre Bellon in 1966, Sodexo has 380,000 employees in 80 nations. Access www.sodexo.com for more information.
