Pacific Shellfish Company, a subsidiary of the Clackamas OR-based Pacific Seafood Group, has acquired Coast Seafoods Company of South Bend WA.
This purchase includes the Coast Seafoods sales office in Bellevue WA, Quilcene Hatchery in Quilcene WA, and farming operations in Willapa Bay WA, Grays Harbor WA, and Humbolt Bay CA. Through the purchase of Coast Seafood, Pacific also acquired 50% interest in Kona Coast Shellfish of Kona HI and Penn Cove Shellfish of Coupeville WA.
“We are extremely excited to partner with Coast Seafoods and gain from the history and experience they have in the oyster and clam industry,” said Frank Dulcich, owner and chief executive officer of Pacific. “Coast Seafoods has been a shellfish vendor partner with Pacific Seafood for a number of years. This transaction will strengthen and increase the offerings that we bring to the marketplace.”
The sale took effect October 2, 2011. The president of Coast Seafood, John Petrie, will remain to oversee the integrated operations of the combined shellfish business.
A family-owned seafood company launched in 1941 in Portland OR, Pacific is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year. The company has grown to employ more than 2,500 people at 37 facilities, with processing plants stretching along the Pacific Coast and distribution facilities in seven states.
