Sabra Dipping Co. to open new plant

Sabra Dipping Company, formed in March 2008 as a joint venture between Strauss Group and PepsiCo, intends to open a plant in Richmond VA. Sabra produces refrigerated dips and spreads and is a leading seller of hummus in the U.S. market.
The Sabra plant, which is expected to start production in mid-2010, will facilitate further production and development of dips and spreads using advanced technologies and will address growing consumer demand for products in this category. This facility is approximately a $61 million investment.
Strauss Group is an international food and beverage company with about 10,000 employees that has achieved double-digit growth for the fifth straight year. PepsiCo is one of the world’s largest food and beverage companies, with 2007 annual revenues of more than $39 billion.
