McLane purchases distributor, site for DC

McLane Co Inc has completed the acquisition of McCarty-Hull Inc, a $100 million wholesale distributor to convenience and grocery retailers. With its main distribution center in Amarillo TX, McCarty-Hull serves chain customers and small independent retailers in a four-state area
As a wholly owned subsidiary of Temple TX-based McLane Co, the acquired firm will continue to operate as McCarty-Hull and will remain based in Amarillo. The current management team, under the leadership of Bill McCarty and Joe Bowlin, will remain in place, and business operations will continue as usual.
In other news, McLane Foodservice has acquired 25 acres in a business park for its future Manassas VA division distribution center. The company plans to start building its 235,000-square-foot DC in early 2007. Its investment for this project totals about $30 million.
