US Foods, one of the nation’s leading food companies and distributors, has agreed to acquire Glover Wholesale Company. Glover is a foodservice distributor based in Americus GA.
Founded in 1892 by George Washington Napoleon Bonaparte Glover as a wholesale distributor, the company generates more than $90 million in annual sales. It serves approximately 2,500 customers throughout Georgia, eastern Alabama, and northern Florida.
“Glover is a strong company that has made a name for itself as a reliable food distributor, dedicated to customer success,” said Keith Campbell, south region president of US Foods. “Adding Glover’s business in the Southeast will enable us to introduce US Foods’ unique brand, innovative food culture, and trend-setting products to new customers and expand our coverage throughout the region.”
David Harris, president and chief executive officer of Glover, will join US Foods as director–business development in central Georgia.
“As one of the nation’s largest food companies, US Foods offers Glover’s customers access to innovative products, exclusive brands, and expert services to help them succeed and stand out from the crowd,” said Harris. “US Foods has a rich heritage in the Southeast of providing an easy service experience, and the addition of the Glover team will only increase the company’s tradition of excellent customer service.”
The transaction is expected to close in early October 2012. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
