Albertson's will undergo structural facelift

Jul 1, 2004 12:00 PM

Albertson's Inc has announced major changes in its organization structure.

The Boise ID-based supermarket giant will launch a businesswide Six Sigma Quality program. The Six Sigma Academy has been retained to assist in the training, roll-out, and implementation process.

Albertson's is establishing a new centralized Customer Service Operation, consolidating all dimensions of its customer service operations for every major banner in all 2,300-plus stores under one leadership team.

Major changes are also occurring in Food Operations as these division consolidations were announced:

  • Four former divisions — Southwest, Intermountain, Northwest, and Rocky Mountain — have been consolidated to form the new Intermountain West Division headquartered in Boise.

  • The former Acme and Florida Divisions have been consolidated into one new Eastern Division.

The company now has seven operating divisions (six food and one drug).
