May 1, 2005 12:00 PM

The Seattle Division of Safeway Inc has completed its new distribution center in Auburn WA. The $175 million, 116-acre facility opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony April 20.

Encompassing the regional distribution center is a 538,000-square-foot dry goods warehouse and a 515,000-sq-ft refrigerated warehouse. Combined with this are a recycling center, trucking department, dispatch office, fuel station, truck repair shop, and administration center.

This 2½-year project helps solidify Safeway's position in the Northwest.
