Pinnacle, Kroger raise money for fight against hunger

Dec 1, 2002 12:00 PM

Two food industry companies have joined forces in the fight against hunger. In a four-week period, Cherry Hill NJ-based Pinnacle Foods Co (makers of Hungry Man, Swanson, and Great Starts frozen products) and Cincinnati OH-based Kroger Stores Co helped raise $25,000 for the America's Second Harvest hunger-relief charity.

Pinnacle and Kroger together raised the money during their October “Team Hungry Man” effort, during which five cents from every Hungry Man, Swanson, or Great Starts product sold at a Cincinnati, Columbus OH, Detroit MI, or Atlanta GA-area Kroger store was donated to America's Second Harvest.

Kroger customers were made aware of the fund-raising effort with appearances from four musclebound “Team Hungry Man” members who made Kroger store appearances in all four metro areas. The four assisted customers with their groceries and talked to them about the hunger relief effort inside the store.
