3PAR serves special order for FreshDirect

FreshDirect, an online provider of fresh foods, has purchased the 3PAR InServ storage server for its web-based ordering system, and a second InServ storage server to handle corporate and production applications. The Queens NY-based firm, which regularly prepares and delivers more than 8,000 products to 100,000-plus customers, selected 3PAR for performance, scalability, simplicity, and ability to support operations.
Through direct relationships with fresh food suppliers and its own 300,000-square-foot food processing facility, FreshDirect provides fresh produce, meats, and baked goods. Within 12 to 24 hours of being placed, orders are prepared and delivered to customers by a fleet of more than 100 trucks during a pre-selected two-hour time window. More than one million individual items are prepared and delivered weekly.
