Tools enhance food recall management

Instill Corp, provider of on-demand supply chain systems and services for the foodservice industry, has added Recall Management capabilities to its Quality & Compliance Management system.

Jeff Smith, Instill’s vice-president of marketing, said, “With Instill’s collaborative Recall Management tools, our customers can initiate a product recall with their supply chain partners and monitor product disposition and recovery within the restaurants, distribution centers, and suppliers in real time."

Web-based Recall Management tools can be used on a stand-alone basis or with other modules of Instill’s Quality & Compliance Management system. For example, a crisis management team can receive automated alerts identifying potential product hazards based on complaint severity or an increase in complaints for a certain product or plant and initiate a recall immediately. The impacted parties receive emergency alerts and respond with details about their product status, including quantity on hand, product isolation, and final disposition. Stakeholders have real-time visibility into reports on recall status, including who has not responded to the product recall request and the total recovered product.
