Partnership screens truck driver applicants

Apr 14, 2004 12:01 PM, from staff and wire reports

Unicru and USIS/DAC (US Investigations Services) have partnered to provide an application, screening, and hiring service for fleets. This service cross-references electronic applications with employment history files, Commercial Driver License Information System, and Department of Transportation-related background checks to help identify safe drivers.

Job candidates can complete the electronic application by using an on-site computer or via the Internet. Included are questions that assess safety attributes.

The application is then transmitted to a database and evaluated against criteria of previous successful employees. CDL and social security number checks are also performed.

Results are usually reported within minutes, according to Unicru, and are accessible via a Web browser.
