Gordon Trucking Inc (GTI) is standardizing on Cognos 8 Business Intelligence (BI) and Cognos 8 Planning to enable greater reporting accuracy and speed decision-making.

GTI is a privately owned truckload carrier that operates across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. According to GTI officials, Cognos 8 BI will save the company thousands of hours a year in creating and delivering reports. Already deployed in the operations and marketing departments, Cognos 8 BI will rollout across the entire organization shortly. The software has helped GTI reduce processing errors, and attend to data integrity issues more quickly.

One example is the Temperature Control Service Failures report, designed to display any orders where the company failed to deliver a refrigerated goods load on time. What used to be a manual process of checking status by a select few individuals has been replaced with a Cognos report delivered daily to a department on the operations floor. By using this report, GTI has reduced its service failure count by nearly half.
