ORTEC, TomTom announce cooperation

Jan 1, 2009 12:00 PM

Two major players on the international routing and scheduling market, ORTEC and TomTom WORK — a business unit of TomTom NV — have joined forces. The alliance will primarily benefit companies in the middle segment of the transport and distribution market and service industry, and involves the use of a standard interface developed to connect TomTom WORK's intelligent navigation system with ORTEC's routing and scheduling systems.

TomTom WORK provides a fleet management tool to companies with any fleet size, operating in different service, transport, and logistic industries. It services companies that need to manage their fleet in a more cost-efficient way, and that must keep in constant contact with drivers and monitor changing events by using tracking and tracing technologies integrated with TomTom navigation. There is no special software involved besides a modern Internet browser. There is also no need for IT support or maintenance, which makes TomTom WORK a plug-and-play and affordable fleet management system.
