Publix selects Cadec
to extend supply chain

Jan 21, 2009 9:46 AM

Cadec Global, a provider of fleet management systems, announced that Publix Super Markets Inc. is now a Cadec customer. Publix has purchased and is implementing Cadec’s Mobius TTS On-Board Computers (OBCs) and on-premise software to extend its supply chain management efforts into the cabs of all 600-plus trucks in its private fleet.

Publix chose Cadec due to its ability to tightly integrate its OBCs with Publix’s other enterprise systems, and its preference for an on-premise software rather than software hosted by a third party (Cadec provides both options). Cadec also offered advantages in data collection and reporting.

Founded in 1930, Publix Super Markets is an employee-owned supermarket chain and one of the 10 largest volume chains in the United States. Retail sales in 2007 exceeded $23 billion. The company operates 995 supermarkets in five states from eight distribution centers, and has five of its own manufacturing facilities.
