Stevens Transport has selected Qualcomm Inc’s Mobile Computing Platform 200 (MCP200) to integrate across its fleet of approximately 2,000 tractors. After a competitive evaluation, Stevens elected to invest in Qualcomm’s MCP200 and its applications that will enhance customer service while increasing efficiency and productivity.
While evaluating fleet management system options, refrigerated carrier Stevens sought to significantly improve fleet productivity and operational efficiency. As a long-time customer familiar with Qualcomm’s fleet management platforms and applications, the company was confident that the critical tools available with the MCP200 would aid its fleet in achieving its objectives. In particular, Stevens will use these applications:
•Qualcomm Hours of Service (QHOS)—An electronic on-board recorder (EOBR) application that automates driver logs and is fully compliant with the latest rules and regulations of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), which will improve fleet manager and dispatcher efficiency.
•Media Manager—Enables reliable and secure delivery of critical audio and video messages and PDF documents to a single driver, group of drivers, or to the entire fleet.
•Performance monitoring—Records the most critical vehicle and driver performance behaviors that affect fuel consumption, allowing Stevens to more accurately manage fleet fuel consumption and its associated costs. In fact, Stevens reported immediate benefits, citing increased driver education and awareness around the impact of proper fuel management on the fleet, the environment and future of its business.
•Circle of Service Workflow—Integrates with Stevens’ dispatch software and automates functions, such as load assignments, work process forms, and other tasks required by the driver at each stop, which provides an efficient and streamlined process to help the carrier lower operational costs, reduce errors made by manual data entry and improve compliance and on-time fulfillment.
•In-cab navigation—Contributes to increased productivity, safer driving, and enhanced driver satisfaction by providing drivers with turn-by-turn directions while in motion, and helps improve the bottom line by using accurate routes to reduce out-of-route miles.
